With reference to Your Excellency's conversation of yesterday on the subject of the want of an efficient Police, I have the honor to state, that I shall be quite ready, if Your Excellency approves - to call for a return of the Good conduct and their Services in the 55th Regiment, and to make such a selection under the Superintendance of the proper medical Authorities, as appears best calculated to answer the purposes.
